Quality of Life Update: Instant Forge

The Forge is getting its biggest upgrade yet, going live on Wednesday, November 4. Fusing cards no longer sends you off to the website to sign two transactions every time. Hit Fuse in the launcher and, a few seconds later, the forge is done and your new card is in your wallet. Burning your cards, paying the fee and minting the new card now happen as one action: either all of it happens, or none of it does.

What's Changed, What's Improved

  • Forging happens inside the launcher. No more "You're not done yet" hand-off to the website and no more order page. Pick your cards, hit Fuse, and the result shows up in the launcher in about 10 seconds.
  • No wallet prompts on every forge. After a quick one-time setup per wallet (more on that below), forging never asks you to sign anything again.
  • All or nothing. Your input cards are burned, the fee is paid and your new card is minted in a single transaction. If anything fails, the whole thing cancels: your cards stay in your wallet and you're not charged. A forge can no longer stop halfway, with cards burned but no new card minted.
  • No network fee on any forge. We send the forge transaction ourselves, so you pay no network fee on any forge, whichever wallet you use. The one-time setup is two transactions from your own wallet: those are covered for IMX Passport, and with MetaMask you pay a small network fee on those two, once.
  • Works the same for every wallet. Passport and MetaMask wallets go through exactly the same flow.

Before and After

  • Where you forge. Before: launcher, then a separate order page on the website. Now: entirely in the launcher.
  • Wallet confirmations. Before: two on every forge (burn your cards, then pay the fee). Now: none, after a one-time setup per wallet.
  • Burn, payment and mint. Before: separate steps that could end up out of sync. Now: one transaction, all or nothing.
  • Getting your new card. Before: the forge animation played first, then the launcher sent you to the website to sign, and the card arrived once that order completed. Now: when the launcher says it's done, your new card is already in your wallet, usually within seconds.
  • Network fees. Before: covered for IMX Passport; MetaMask wallets paid on every forge. Now: no fee on any forge, for any wallet; MetaMask wallets pay only for the one-time setup.

What You Can Expect

The first time you forge with a wallet after Wednesday, November 4, the launcher will ask you to do a one-time setup in your browser. You'll approve two things:

  1. Your cards: lets the Forge burn the cards you choose to fuse, and only when you start a forge.
  2. Your GODS: lets the Forge collect the GODS fee shown for each forge you start.

That's it. From then on, every forge with that wallet is a single click. If you have more than one wallet, each one does the setup once. If you use IMX Passport, the approval opens in a pop-up, so allow pop-ups for the launcher if your browser blocks them. Using a MetaMask wallet? The setup happens in your browser with MetaMask, just as forging used to. After that, you never need MetaMask to forge.

What's Not Changing

The recipes and costs are the same: the same cards in, the same card out, and the same Flux and GODS fees for each rarity. Your new card is still an NFT in your wallet, fully yours and tradeable exactly like before.

One Thing to Do Before Wednesday, November 4

If you have a forge that's still waiting for you to sign on the website, finish it before Wednesday, November 4. You can find it in your Forge history in the launcher.

Questions You'll Probably Have

Why did you make this change? Burning your cards and paying the fee used to be two separate transactions. Very occasionally, a forge could end up with cards burned and no new card. Doing everything in one transaction closes that gap for good, and it means you're no longer bounced between the launcher and the website.

Why do I need to approve anything? Because the Forge now does the burning and the fee payment for you, it needs your permission once to do so. Think of it as setting up a payment method so you don't have to re-enter your card at every checkout.

Will the Forge ever take cards or GODS I didn't ask it to? No. It only acts when you start a forge in the launcher, and only on the cards you picked and the fee shown on screen. When you set up the GODS permission, your wallet may show it as an unlimited approval. That's what lets every later forge go through without asking you again; it is still only ever used to collect the fee for a forge you start. You can also revoke either approval from your wallet at any time. If you do, the launcher will simply ask you to set it up again on your next forge.

My forge failed. Did I lose my cards? No. Burn, payment and mint are one action. If it doesn't complete, nothing happens: your cards stay put and nothing is charged. Try again.

The launcher says my forge is still processing. Very occasionally the network takes longer than usual. Your forge will finish on its own; check your Forge history in a few minutes. You don't need to do anything.

I switched wallets and it's asking for the setup again. That's expected. Approvals are per wallet, so each wallet does the one-time setup once.

Do I need GODS in the wallet I forge with? Yes. The fee is taken from the wallet you select in the Forge, so make sure that wallet holds enough GODS for the forge.
