February Community Newsletter

February was a big month for Gods Unchained as the world of Faenar shifted with the launch of the Roots of Ruin expansion and Battle Pass Season 11. What began as a narrative deep dive into the hidden history beneath Eucos turned into a tangible evolution of the game — with new cards, fresh strategic possibilities, and layered progression paths rolling out together for the first time.
Roots of Ruin introduced 44 new cards and the Everborn, a powerful new neutral tribe that reshapes deckbuilding and meta dynamics, while Season 11 brought twin progression tracks and exclusive rewards designed to reward both steady engagement and high-commitment play. These releases were about expanding the way Mortals engage with Gods Unchained, offering deeper tactical choice, broader collection goals, and fresh seasonal incentives.
In the sections that follow, we’ll explore what’s new in the set, how the Everborn tribe changes the strategic landscape, the reward structure driving Season 11, and what Mortals can expect as the year unfolds.
Roots of Ruin Expansion

On February 17, 2026, Gods Unchained unveiled its latest major content drop: the Roots of Ruin expansion, marking a significant evolution in both narrative and gameplay. This set adds 44 new cards to the game and introduces a primal new threat — the Everborn — reshaping the meta and offering Commanders fresh strategic possibilities to explore.
Roots of Ruin is built around a compelling narrative premise: ancient, root-dwelling forces long hidden beneath Eucos are awakening, reshaping the world at its most fundamental levels. This isn’t a clash of gods, but a rewriting of the land itself, with the Everborn acting as a relentless, organic force that reclaims everything it touches.
The expansion’s 44 cards are distributed across limited-edition pack types, giving Commanders multiple avenues to engage with and build around the new content — from Regular packs to deep-chase Shiny packs that also offer the opportunity to discover the one-of-a-kind Mythic card The Great Unnamed One and multiple high-prestige variants.
What’s been incredible is the amount of support we have had from our players. All but 2 mythic art variants have been pulled (as of Feb27, 2026), and the mythic The Great Unamed One has been comfortably homed. We look forward to seeing the 2 remaining mythic art variants find their rightful owners, but hurry up as the set won’t be around forever!
Everborn Tribe Spotlight

A defining feature of the Roots of Ruin expansion is the arrival of the Everborn — a new tribe that fundamentally shifts how Commanders think about deckbuilding and strategy.
Unlike previous tribes that were tied to a single God domain, the Everborn are designed as a mostly Neutral faction that any God can align with. This means they can be mixed into a wide range of deck builds, bringing greater flexibility and hybrid potential to competitive play.
The Everborn aren’t divine constructs or loyal followers — they are a primordial force of nature. In the deep dive, the team explained that the Everborn were intentionally created to feel alien and unbound by the traditional pantheon, with mechanics that reflect their otherworldly purpose.
Mechanically, the Everborn were designed to be slightly parasitic — powerful when used in concentrated synergy with other Everborn cards, but requiring thoughtful deck construction and trade-offs against traditional creatures and relics. This gives them a distinct identity in gameplay while encouraging experimentation rather than repetition of existing archetypes.
By making the core components of the tribe Neutral, the designers opened the door to hybrid strategies that blend Everborn with domain strengths, rewarding players who explore beyond established builds and adapt dynamically to the evolving meta.
Overall, the Everborn add a fresh layer of depth and unpredictability to Gods Unchained, reflecting a broader design goal of refreshing playstyles and strategic diversity.
Battle Pass Season 11

Battle Pass Season 11 launched alongside Roots of Ruin on February 17, 2026, offering Commanders two progression paths and a suite of seasonal rewards. Season 11 introduced both a Collector Pass and a Whale Pass, giving players choice in how they engage with progression and exclusive content.
The Collector Pass delivers steady value with Battle Packs, promo packs, seasonal XP challenges, and cosmetic rewards tied to the new set.
For those seeking deeper prestige and collectibles, the Whale Pass expands on that foundation with additional promo packs, exclusive items, and the chance to chase The Dissolving Horror variant — a reward only available through Whale Battle Packs.
