As part of our broader migration of Gods Unchained to Immutable zkEVM, we’ll also be moving the $GODS staking program to the new chain. This migration of the game to Immutable zkEVM will take place between June 2nd and June 7th, 2025.

In this blog, we’ll give you the full breakdown on what’s happening and when, what it means for your staking rewards, and what to expect during the migration period.

🛠️ What’s Happening, the TL;DR

  • The $GODS staking program is migrating from Immutable X to Immutable zkEVM together with Gods Unchained.

  • We are building a new improved system and are currently planning to launch after the migration.

  • Distribution of staking rewards will be temporarily paused between May 29th and June 11th to ensure a smooth transition.

⏳ What About the Current Rewards Period?

The current staking rewards period runs from May 8th to June 4th, which overlaps with our planned migration window.

We evaluated two options:

  1. End the rewards period early on May 28th, shortening it to 3 weeks and including 3 weekly epochs worth of rewards.

  2. Complete a full 4-week reward period ending June 4th, with rewards distributed June 9th (after the migration window).

We’ve chosen to end the rewards period early on May 28th and distribute rewards on June 2nd, before the migration begins. While this means a shorter epoch, it avoids complications in reward distribution during the migration. 

📈 What Happens During the Migration?

To minimize the impact on community rewards, there will be a temporary interruption of the calculation of staking rewards:

  • Staking calculations will be paused between May 29th and June 11th while we migrate the game.

Unfortunately there will be a lack of staking rewards for these two epochs.To ensure our staking players don’t miss out on rewards, the first epoch that we calculate on Immutable zkEVM will have triple the $GODS token rewards. This will also give time for players who hold their tokens on Immutable X to bridge these assets to Immutable zkEVM.

🚀 What Happens After the Migration?

Following the migration to Immutable zkEVM, we’ll enter an interim staking period. This will account for all staking rewards typically calculated from June 12th until this interim staking period concludes. During this time:

  • You can continue to accumulate staking rewards by simply:
    • Holding your $GODS tokens on Immutable zkEVM, and

    • Meeting at least one of the staking eligibility criteria listed here

  • Rewards will continue to accrue in a compounding fashion on Immutable zkEVM once the calculation of staking rewards has resumed on June 12th. This means that any rewards you accumulate without them being distributed will be assumed to be staked, contributing to your allocation of the staking rewards.

  • While calculations of staking rewards will begin from June 12th onwards, the actual distribution of the $GODS token rewards will not be run until the new system is released . This means that the tokens will NOT be sent to your wallet, however as described above any rewards you accumulate will still count towards your portion of staked tokens.

  • You won’t need to take any additional action beyond meeting the standard criteria as long as you have hold  your $GODS tokens on Immutable zkEVM.

This interim period gives us time to build and launch a brand-new staking system—one designed to address the limitations of the old one and deliver a smoother, more rewarding experience for all players and stakers.
